826 Valencia is a non-profit organization in the Mission District of San Francisco, California, dedicated to helping children and young adults develop writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Founded by Bay Area California author Dave Eggers and teacher Nínive Calegari, 826 Valencia encourages creative and expository writing skills among students ages six to eighteen. It offers tons of free programs, after-school tutoring, writing centers, and more. The success of 826 Valencia has spawned numerous chapters across the country. |
