July 2020/Conspiracy Theories: The Last Week Tonight host John Oliver launched "The True True Truth" to debunk COVID-19 myths and conspiracy theories. He addressed Trump's COVID-19 theories and other claims Trump has made. He shared a video clip of radio host Rush Limbaugh, who noted that Trump never says he "believes" the conspiracy theories he is sharing, Trump just sends them out to the masses, which Limbaugh likened to pouring gasoline on a fire. Oliver suggested to not argue with people who believe conspiracies, as it is difficult to change their beliefs. Instead, he said to urge them to think more critically about the theories and promote empathy when discussing them. Oliver invited several stars: Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, Fast & Furious actor John Cena, Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd, Pose actor Billy Porter, and Schitt's Creek actress Catherine O'Hara to discuss theories, to share their opinions, and to share how to check the validity of theories on the Internet.
